About NAMI Butte County
NAMI Butte County was established to provide support, education, empathy and advocacy for people with mental illness and their families in the North State.
Mental illness is a serious medical illness that affects one in four families.
We have engaged in a variety of activities to create awareness about mental illness in our community. NAMI Butte County works to provide help, hope and healing for those affected by serious mental illness.
NAMI Butte County continues to reach out to those in the various communities in our area to provide the needed information and support to better prepare them to handle mental illness. This is done through educational programs and our annual Walk.
Peer Education, Training & Initiatives
We offer an array of peer education and training programs, initiatives and services for individuals, family members, health care providers and the general public.
NAMI’s education and support programs provide relevant information, valuable insight, and the opportunity to engage in support networks.
These programs draw on the lived experience of individuals who have learned to live well with mental illness and have been extensively trained to help others, as well as the expertise of mental health professionals and educators.
All of these programs provide critical education to help individuals and families gain knowledge and skills for living successfully with mental illness and are provided free of charge.
Our Goal
The overriding goal of NAMI Butte County is to help our community – individuals living with a mental illness and their families & friends – to educate themselves about mental illness, to find the support they want and so desperately need, and to provide a platform for advocacy and mental health reform in America – on the local, state and national levels.
